Photomontages

Woodlawn WindEnergy Joint Venture has
commissioned URS Australia Pty Ltd (Environmental and Planning Consultants) to carry out an assessment of visual impacts as part of the environmental assessment process.

URS have prepared “photomontages” to show how the turbines may look from five nearby locations. The visual assessment specialists took the following steps to prepare the photomontages.

Step 1:

Five viewpoints were selected based on
desktop and field analysis. Photographs
were taken from these viewpoints and
information was collected including
camera location, view angle, focal
length of lens (field of view) and
direction of view.

Step 2:

A 3D model was created using a computer
program that shows the landform as well
as the turbines in their proposed locations.

Step 3:

The photograph and information collected
in Step 1, was merged with the 3D model
in Step 2, to produce a 3D generated view.

Step 4:

The turbines were given appropriate colour,
texture and shadows to create a realistic
image of how the turbines will be seen in
the landscape.

Views

Please note these visual simulations were updated on 1 June 2004.

The previous visual simulations showed all turbines with a hub height of 78m.

These updated visual simulations show a combination of turbines with 60m and 78m hub heights.
