Woodlawn WindEnergy joint venture members, EHN Oceania Pty Ltd, Collex Pty Ltd, ANZ Infrastructure Services Limited and ActewAGL, are pleased to announce that the Development Application (DA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for their proposed wind farm at Woodlawn has received approval from the NSW Minister for Planning Mr Frank Sartor.
The Woodlawn Wind Farm, which will be located along the Great Dividing Range on Collex's Woodlawn Bioreactor and Pylara agricultural properties on Collector Road, near Tarago, will consist of 25 wind turbines. The wind farm will also feature a viewing platform and educational displays for passing visitors.
The NSW Premier Morris Iemma said, "The construction of this wind farm is a significant investment in the State's green energy industry and the Goulburn region."
"Development of this exciting project has involved detailed design, comprehensive studies and close consultation with government, community groups, residents and indigenous communities. With the support of these stakeholders, the Woodlawn WindEnergy Joint Venture will bring over $96 million in investment to the area and provide flow on economic benefits to the region" said Mr. Brett Thomas, Managing Director of EHN.
"Enough green electricity will be produced by the wind farm to heat, cool and power over 22,000 homes - avoiding the production of over 124,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions."
The community has been supportive of the project. Many people were positive about the need for renewable energy facilities as a way of reducing Australia's greenhouse gas emissions.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to commence next year.
The joint venture partners would like to thank everyone for their involvement in this exciting environmentally friendly project and for the work achieved to date.
